6.1.0 Release Notes OneStream

Introduction

OneStream 6.1.0 is a minor release which contains new features, enhancements to existing features, and business rule API additions. The features of this type of release are developed to enhance the design capabilities, performance, and improve ease of use of applications. Designers, system administrators, and users, will benefit from the enhancements across their application. Minor versions are compatible with prior versions.

OneStream users are encouraged to adopt the OneStream Windows App. The OneStream web interface has been developed using Microsoft’s Silverlight web browser plug-in.  Microsoft officially announced in 2012 that development of Silverlight will be discontinued with support ending in October 2021.  The OneStream Windows Application is the replacement for the Silverlight-based browser interface.  Customers should note that certain new features may only be available in the OneStream Windows App due to its technology advantages.  In addition, users can access OneStream through the HTML5-based OneStream Mobile and OneStream Excel Add-in.  OneStream will not support the Silverlight-based web browser interface beyond 2021.

OneStream version 5.3 was the last version to support the Windows 7 operating system. Windows 7 is no longer supported as a client operating system as of January 14, 2020, in line with Microsoft’s mainstream support policy. 

Schema Update

For OneStream 6.1.0, you are not required to perform a Database Schema Upgrade on the Framework and application databases when upgrading from version 6.1.0 and prior using the OneStream Database Configuration Utility. 

New Features

  • A new parent level property setting, Load Overlapped Siblings allows Workflow designers to control the Workflow behavior of the Data Unit overlap checking that occurs across sibling channels. (19762)

  • A new tab called Report Designer in the Windows application, supports the studio application in designer mode. (18429, 18263)

  • Designers can extract Cube View Layouts or copy layouts from other reports found in other Dashboards. (18432)

  • A new setting called TabControlStyle allows you to choose three different tab options for dashboards, Classic, No Border, and Rounded Corners. (18572)

  • Auto Expand Range for New Records has been added to the Table View Definition dialog box. (18448)

  • Default formatting has been created to identify the end of a named range. (18453)

  • Two new functions have been added to the BRGlobals class to support Business Rule based metadata management. The Globals.LockObjectForInitialization and Globals.GetOrAddObject are used to ensure there is proper execution of rules within the multi-threaded rules processes for the checking of the existence of a member and insertion process. This function ensures these processes all occur within the same thread lock. (19862)

  • Functionality has been added to insert new records, delete records, and add a new row to a table view. (14889)

Changed

  • The dynamic sql query is now on the server side and passes the control's components as protected objects. (15613)

  • Cube Views have been changed from labels to tables allowing consistency in resizing. (17932)

  • Number Past Metric Readings for SQL Blocking is now SQL Blocking Timeout Interval (Minutes) which checks the SQL Blocked Items Timestamp. If the Timestamp is greater than the blocking timeout interval, a warning is logged. (10385)

  • The Order by Clause property does not allow SQL Functions, like YEAR(effectiveDate). When run inside a dashboard, the Table Editor's columns allow clicks to change the order to ascending, descending, or no sort. SQL functions are not allowed in the ordering. (20452)

Enhancements

  • A new BRAPI is available to GetFXRateType information based on the FXRateType Name. (18250)

  • Security is applied to the workflow clear options on the workflow roles in the Clear All ‘Import’ Data From Cube and Clear All ‘Forms’ Data From Cube. (18022)

  • New rows can be added to a table view. (14601)

  • You can multi select in a grid view <Ctrl+click> or <Shift+click> to select multiple rows. You can also search when items have been checked or selected and sustain the selected items if the search for text is not relevant to the selected items. (17774)

  • Excel Add-in message has been clarified. (19117)

  • Dashboards that are opened from within a dashboard using the new navigation option open into a new tab and you can toggle between the Task Manager and the task dashboard. (10968)

  • The user can format data area cells that remain when paging and saving on a pivot grid. Number format types are the same used in the CubeViews. (16725)

  • A new setting for Base Input workflow profiles called Load Overlapped Siblings is in a new category called Base Input Settings. Each profile type has its own section for settings that only apply to that type. The default is True and it varies by Scenario Type. If the user sets it to False, the code will no longer re-load data for any siblings of the Import profile the user has selected to load. (19762)

  • BI Blend Finalize Table process retries if the rename process fails. (18989)

  • Finance Business Rule Functions have been added enhance the ability to develop metadata using business rules. The new Finance Member functions, ReadWriteableMemberNoCache, ReadMemberPropertiesNoCache, ReadMemberDescriptionsNoCache, ReadRelationshipNoCache, ReadRelationshipPropertiesNoCache, are designed to bypass the normal caching process for better performance when evaluating metadata. The Finance MemberAdmin functions, SaveMemberInfo and SaveRelationshipInfo have been modified to include new properties to write back the new metadata properties. (19862)

  • Highlight cells or group of cells in Spreadsheet and you can see the values on the bottom of the spreadsheet. (6422)

Fixed

  • Highlight evaluated cells works the same in Spreadsheet and Excel. (18237)

  • ExcelNumberFormat settings [#,##0,,.0 ;[Red](#,##0,,.0)] on a CubeView scales numbers when the Cube View is exported to Excel. (12279)

  • When Cube Views are designed with cell border formatting on header and data cells, text wrapping displays evenly between the headers and data cells. (2348)

  • A cell with a formula reference shows as a dirty cell when you add a style to the cell with the formula and then change the value in the referenced cell without refreshing after adding the style. (19135)

  • Active checkbox status in Selection Styles dialog matches Active status in Manage Selection Styles. (19456)

  • AdministerDatabase security role is defined in documentation. (18646)

  • ClickOnce windows Client runs with new release of Edge Chromium. (16999)

  • If a Large Data Pivot Grid Dashboard layout is changed and saved and you exit it and then go back to the Dashboard no error displays. (17814)

  • SSOnly flag allowed to filter by parent member in BI Blend. (19753)Double quotes show around the bound parameter string values when a comma exists in the values. (19532)

  • POVSubPeriodNext and POVSubPeriodPrior are not being overwritten by cube view time. (19891)

  • Cube View Variable POVYearNext/Prior inserts proper columns if the variable value is out of range. (19866)

  • Corresponding data entry fields in property grid have changed from drop-down combo-box format with pre-defined selections to text entry boxes. Entered values will be validated as integer values greater than 0. (19475)

  • Time dimension member list can be sorted prior to display in filter popup. (19396)

  • The XFSETCELL formula does not interpret #REF! as the error number and leaves it as #REF! and no number is submitted to OneStream where a spreadsheet has #REF! references. (18799)

  • When FlipSign=True the TextColor and NegativeTextColor are applied correctly in Data Explorer. (16834)

  • The borders between row expansions when creating or editing cube views in the Windows App are consistent. (16777)

  • In the Excel Add-In, border formatting loads the same in Spreadsheet. (11578)

  • GetDataCell Dynamic Calculations will update and refresh within a business rule process when they reference calc-on-the-fly parent members. (19500)

  • The HTTP Response Headers now have the custom headers from the site level configuration. (20228)

  • Refresh checkbox remains checked after Refresh button is clicked. (19946)

  • A Cube View that uses GetDataCell(CVR(Rowx, x)) works when suppression is turned on if the Rowx,x is not 1 or the last. (18461)

  • Performance has been enhanced for large Excel workbooks containing several thousand named ranges. (20595)

Known Issues

  • If running on Windows 2012 R2, requestFiltering removeServerHeader="true" needs to be removed from the config files, as it is only supported for IIS 10. (18662)

  • Using Cube View Excel Style Formatting, if more than one row or column returned uses the same label, then only the first occurrence will support the style. Unique styles are required. (17287)

  • Non-Administrator Application Pool User Returns Errors for PerfLib and PerfNet When Recyling IIS and also Background Intelligent Transfer Service When Using "Recycle App Pool". (14336)

  • The XFDox Builder may not correctly update Table of Contents page numbering when content is added. (10704)

  • Users editing dimension hierarchies through the Silverlight-based web interface may experience an intermittent issue where the Dimension Library page becomes unavailable. Use of the OneStream Windows Application is the recommended solution for application management to avoid this situation. (10274)

  • Viewing Dashboards in the Silverlight Web Browser, which are designed to contain more than six levels of nested Dashboards, may not render as expected. Users encountering this issue should use the OneStream Windows Application interface as a solution. (10136, 10102)

  • Excel Extensible Documents may not retain the margin and print area formatting when assigned to a OneStream Book of reports. (9052)

  • Monitor displays set for over 125% may impact complex Dashboards by partially hiding content. The Windows Application content zoom is recommended. The optimal display is 1920 x 1080 resolution. For the Windows desktop application, we recommend setting the scale to 100% and using the zoom functionality to zoom in. This is especially helpful in dashboards such as People Planning and Reporting Compliance. (6255)

  • When opening a Workbook that contains OneStream Formulas/Cube Views/Quick Views directly from the file system before opening a blank Excel workbook and logging into the OneStream Excel Add-In, the user may receive a “Cannot run the macro ‘XFInternalSetConnectionInfo’ error. As a workaround, the user can open Excel, log in and then open the XLSX file, or they can launch the file from within OneStream if it is in the File Repository. (5024)

  • To have SSL security configured between the OneStream Application and Web Servers, Application Pools must use a local administrator account rather than a domain account for On-Prem. (4603)

  • When navigating to a Linked Cube View, the drill-down feature may not properly open a source document. (3056)

  • The Report Preview may Error in a Cube Views that are Sharing Rows/Columns and they both have the same row or column names. (2651)

  • If Process Selection Changed for Inserts is set to False and you add a new row, the lower dashboard refreshes and the time updates. (18458)

  • In Cube Views with nested expansions the Member Name and Description wraps when viewed as a report. (16083)

  • OneStream Desktop Application does not open in Windows Native version if MS Edge browser with Edge Chromium has support for Clickonce disabled. You must enable Edge Chromium support for Clickonce. (19757)

  • Text wrapping will not work with a Cube View which uses Cube View Extender Rules. It causes Reports to incorrectly format data. (20635)
